I’m writing about something I never thought was possible and never had any idea that it could happen for me. I joined Phoenix Gym last August at 53 years old; I had weight issues and health issues and I was not very active but thought that because I walked I was okay; but off to the gym I went.

I had never been in a gym before and the first thing that came out of my mouth was if I don’t like this can I get my money back! Good start! I was so scared that people would judge and I would make a fool of myself and all those machines, what was I suppose to do with them?! So I got myself a personal trainer by the name of Tara MacLeod and she taught me how to use everything properly and the training started. The first couple of weeks I wanted to die, my body was not happy, I was hurting but Tara was patient with me. I have to say that now I’m addicted to it, I feel better and I’m stronger mentally (some people might disagree) Health wise is the biggest difference for me, I’m taking less medications and my lifestyle has changed totally.

I’m going to give you some numbers that I and Tara have achieved in one year…
I’ve gone from 174 to 145lbs, from 43% body fat to 21% & size 14 to size 6! Biceps from 31.5cm to 25.5cm, hips from 112.0cm to 96.5, thighs from 55.5cm to 50.7cm, waist from 95.5cm to 75.75cm…so important as I was at high cardiac risk, having already had a heart attack.

So what I’m saying is I don’t want my money back, I love the gym and I cant say enough about Tara as a trainer and now friend. She has made it hard but enjoyable and always has positive feedback on my worst days. I could not have done this without her knowledge and I will always be very gratefully to her for this. I FEEL GREAT AT 54 !!!!

Hi Tara,

I’m emailing to let you know that I have to cancel the remainder of our sessions. I’ve decided to head back to Whistler this week. I just want to say that coming in to train with you over the past five weeks has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself in a long time, and every day when I left the gym I felt really terrific. I’m going to try and find something else that I can do for myself that will leave me with a similar feeling every day.

So, thanks for everything. You’re a really awesome trainer and I thoroughly enjoyed our sessions.
